THE SERAPHIQ APP
Why is the app saying that?
Here’s what it draws on.
You often record tension after work, or calm after getting outside. How does the app turn that into a suggestion? Seraphiq draws on your portrait answers, recorded moments and feedback on what you’ve tried. Here’s how each reading takes shape.
Bring moments together to notice what repeats
Mood entries and exercise feedback inform the comparisons. Recurring topics saved from conversations also offer possibilities for Seraphi to explore with you. These sources complement each other: a topic noticed in conversation is not, on its own, an established statistical connection.
Notice emotions in context
Check-ins are inspired by ecological momentary assessment: recording how you feel through everyday life, alongside the context. In Seraphiq, you choose when to check in. The days you record therefore may not represent all your days.
Explore dimensions studied in psychology
The portrait uses the Mini-IPIP, a short questionnaire about five personality dimensions, and the ERQ, which covers cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression. Calculation rules are defined. The narrative portrait is Seraphiq’s own interpretation; research on the original questionnaires does not validate that interpretation or its French translation.
Compare observations using explicit rules
To explore a connection, the engine compares your entries across situations or periods. It requires a minimum number of observations in each group, checks the size of the difference and applies a Benjamini-Hochberg adjustment when several possibilities are tested. Thresholds and analysis timing are Seraphiq design choices. These precautions reduce some risks of misinterpretation without removing uncertainty.
Distinguish observations from possibilities
Your map brings together what you’ve reported as helpful or heavy and available readings of your entries. A statistical association can also reflect other circumstances, which days you chose to record, or chance. It opens a question; it cannot explain why you are happy or unhappy on its own.
Find support that fits your needs
Quiet time after seeing people, an exercise to unwind after work: personal trials let you explore ways of doing things that suit you. Record your experience, then choose what to keep, adjust or leave. A before-and-after comparison cannot isolate other circumstances in your life; this process is not a controlled clinical trial.
Understand each tool’s role
Portrait calculations and statistical tests run through programmed rules. AI is used for conversations with Seraphi, the wording of some insights and extracting themes from notes. Comparisons involving those themes follow the same statistical criteria. Wording and extractions can be inaccurate.
